The Truth and Realities of E-Learning
With the continued advanced of technology, three new trends will play a huge role in e-learning in 2013. These trends are tied to Augmented Reality, tablets and Digital textbooks. But there are two areas I am worried about – that may impact us – social learning and 3D.
The e-learning industry as a whole, has always been the followers and not the leaders when it comes to using technology. Now with streaming from the net to your television or tablet, we still are holding back.
Saba Social offers a robust set of options and is a solid product, but some of its features are questionable in terms of privacy issues, which hurts the solution. This product can be a knockout, but right now it is just middle of the road.
E-Learning’s biggest challenge isn’t from outside, it is from within the training community. We have been led to believe that ILT reigns supreme and as a result, the adoption rates of e-learning are lower than expected. This from an industry (e-learning) that has been existence for more than 12 years.
